Smart Water Tank Monitoring

Whether it's a rainwater harvesting tank, a well-fed cistern or a stand-by storage tank, StellarGauge keeps an eye on it so you don't have to climb a ladder to check.

The problem

Rainwater tanks fill up and overflow when nobody's looking, then run dry the week you need them. Wells dip in summer, pumps cycle when they shouldn't, and the only way to know is to physically check.

Static float gauges fail unnoticed; phone-call services come quarterly. Real-time monitoring without enterprise IoT pricing has been a gap.

How StellarGauge fits

Live water level

Real-time tank level — to the cm — visible from your phone, browser or shared with the family.

Low-water & overflow alerts

Push notifications below your minimum (e.g. for irrigation pumps) and above your maximum (overflow risk).

Pump-cycle awareness

Detects rapid level fluctuations indicative of a malfunctioning pump or a stuck float — get a heads-up before the pump burns out.

Usage trends

Daily, weekly, monthly water draw. Useful for spotting leaks and right-sizing harvesting capacity.

Multi-tank dashboard

Group several tanks (rainwater + irrigation + emergency) under one dashboard with per-tank thresholds.

Built for outdoor sensors

Sensors rated for outdoor temperature and humidity; the data flow is designed for intermittent connectivity at the tank itself.

Common questions

Will it work in a metal storage tank?

Yes for ultrasonic-based sensors with the right mounting. Metal tanks need a sensor mount that doesn't introduce echo; we recommend the supplied flange kit for non-PE tanks.

Does it integrate with rainwater harvesting controllers?

We expose a simple HTTP API for level and threshold events — most modern harvesting controllers can poll or webhook against it.

Can I share access with a tenant or family member?

Yes — read-only sharing is on the paid tier; the recipient gets the dashboard and alerts but can't change calibration or thresholds.

How accurate is the level reading?

Typically ±1 cm in a stable tank; calibration mode tightens it further by sampling at known reference levels.
